Why not treat your dad to a vibey night out on the town, all in aid of a fantastic cause? We’re in! Copperlake Breweries will be hosting a loads-of-fun quiz night, with ample great beers a-flow (we know how much dad loves beer!) and more-ish food options. Well, we think it sounds like the perfect way to celebrate Fathers’ Day! Quiz teams are encouraged to dress up as sports teams from around the world … so gather your teammates and gear up for an evening of laughter and celebration with your dad. All the proceeds will be donated to charity, making the evening that much more enjoyable. R250, including a light dinner. June 21, 6.30pm. Copperlake Breweries, Broadacres Shopping Centre. As South Africans, some of our fondest memories are made round the braai … often with our dads putting their skills to the test in order to win the self-proclaimed title of braai master! Well, this Fathers’ Day the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel will be hosting a poolside braai that’ll allow dads to truly feel like the kings they are. Think views over the Sandton CBD, an opportunity to sit back and relax alongside a sparkling blue pool while soaking in some much-needed winter sun, as well as a selection of delicious food and drinks … bliss! R350. June 17 from 11am – 3pm. Details: 011-286-1000.
The Cradle of Humankind will be hosting an über-vibey music festival, focusing on contemporary African music, in one of Gauteng’s most spectacular venues, The Nirox Sculpture Park. Local artists will use a combination of traditional and contemporary instruments to perform a variety of different musical genres … a true African treat that we’re sure dad (and the entire family) will love. There’ll also be a host of fantastic wine and gourmet food options available. Plus, you’ll get the opportunity to admire the magnificent sculptures on show at the park … what a win! Tickets from R330. June 17. Nirox Sculpture Park, 24 Kromdraai Rd, Krugersdorp. Details: www.acousticsnow.org
It’s almost time to celebrate and show some appreciation for our dads … and what better way to do it than with a fantastic whisky tasting experience at The Rock in Design Quarter this Fathers’ Day. The tasting will consist of six whiskies as well as a selection of bar snacks. And the feel-good factor? All proceeds go to the NAHYSOSA Bursary Fund. After the tasting we recommend having lunch at the restaurant … the Excalibur chicken is our personal fave (think deboned chicken thighs skewered on a sword, grilled on coal and basted with a rich mustard sauce) … and the sweet potato chips are an absolute must as well! R400. June 16, 3pm. The Rock Diner, Shop 6, Design Quarter. Details: www.therock.co.za
